Bury her beneath the bougainvillea where the sunlight leaks through the leaves like god's granting her reprieve She'll wait there for me Before we met before I spared her from this mess In the cold night she walked and slept the streets like migrating spinafex and they did nothing Bury her beneath the bougainvillea the petals slowly drift and drip resting sweetly on her lips that won't betray me Like it's vines she crept over the members of government their lust she kept until the trap was set and then their hands ran up her dress she ran her hands round their necks oh Julia Bury her beneath the bougainvillea far from their reach let the dirt compress what air's left in her chest they won't make her speak

Dress all your little girls in white Dress all your little girls in white They're not coming home tonight They're not coming home Dress the boys in their Sunday best Dress the boys in their Sunday best The Lord will take care of the rest the Lord takes care Leave your watch and your rings behind Leave your watch and your rings behind You won't need to know the time You won't need to know Walk them down by the candle light Walk them down by the candle light Down down to the river side Down to the river Drink what the Lord gives us down Drink what the Lord gives us down Temptation won't get us now Temptation won't get us

You know you know how children’s tales do grow I can baptize from sin but they can still make their own You know you know how children’s tales do grow And these claims by your son begrudge all that we’ve bestowed So blessed are you mother for voicing your concerns But it’s the word of our preist against that of your son so Don’t clean your hands on the cloth I know I know how children’s tales do grow but how can I deny a fire when I can’t see for all this smoke So I’m moving you on father to preach another church And I pray its only god’s love they find amongst your work Don’t clean your hands on the cloth

When she asked to meet again his eyes turned to cellophane And his hands would linger on the ring garnishing her finger But the lace that peaked out between the buttons on her blouse He knew he would only succumb to her Soft radio tones tried to hide their callous moans the windows grew mist with their deepening breath She pulled at his tie to taste what it hides and dragged him down from above her Keeping her secrets was his insurance Cause up until now she had kept to her vows Hearts like a house wine the dregs of what's left behind Didn't want to hurt any others carpark lovers Her fingernails ran along the back of his hand As she passed expenditures that require his signature From her wayward fringe her eyes met with his And they met when the moonlight took over Keeping his secrets was her insurance cause anything she told spread like office cold The years he'd worked harder climbing the ladder would be worthless if she blew his cover, carpark lovers His roulette of partners used to him working all hours And getting in late and going for a shower The pleasure to smell her when he undid his trousers he knew there couldn't be any other Carpark Lovers

They nailed jesus like a scarecrow at the front of every classroom to scare the kids into doing what they want to do And the filled them with ambitions conceived by corporations then took away any chance we could afford them And they denounced all that's different with pride and patriotism waving flags and singing loud our anthem Then they took the right to question away from journalism so the message isn't lost in adverse opinions They nailed jesus like a scarecrow at the front of every classroom to scare the kids into doing what they want to do Then they tore out all the pages of genocide and racists so we won't despise the people that created us Oh Well Orwell

Wet Towel 01:59
Again I found myself slumped over her like a wet towel, nauseous with euphoria and failure, sweat sliding down the tangled vines of our limbs while our chest exhaust air like bellows on a flame. I buried my head in her neck, ashamed to look her in the face, too ashamed for her to see my guilt and acknowledge my greed. She says nothing, runs her fingers through my hair as we gain control of our breathing and the blood pounding at our eardrums. I’ve been lying here too long, I’m sure she can’t wait to get rid of me. I’m sure she will laugh about me with her friends. I exit her with the grace of a corpse being rolled into a shallow grave, left staring vacantly into space. But before I could escape to the edge of the earth, she laid her head on my chest, I breathed in the scent of her hair and we fell asleep.

I see her in the shards of glass surrounding the traffic lights I see her in the embers of a lit cigarette dancing on the asphalt I see her in the shallow scars scrawled along the freeway walls I see her in the spiteful glares of a breaklight explodes and then smolders now I know her words became the marrow of my bones while all that's left of my spine erodes I try to let my fingernails grow Kathy put down your pen I don't think there's anything you could say I know I'd have her grace but in every sweetheart's embrace I only see her face slow down white noise on the window white rapids run along the roads oil stains burst into rainbows Kathy put down your pen I don't think there's anything you could say I know I'd have her grace but in every sweetheart's embrace I only see her when I'm standing in the shower staring down the drain and I can't evade the words that all my friends are saying I tried forgiving myself I tried to fuck it away but in every single sweetheart's embrace I only see her face

(L) Set sail upon the seas between my shoulders Sink deep with the ballast of your chest Arch your bow and cast your eyes across these waters And let the wind and the waves do the rest You maneuver yourself with the ocean Stubborn to the tide and the swell Your lungs rise and fall like whitewash on the shore Eroiding the rocks and the shells (S) You hands haul me leeward into your direction From a cove where I have been becalmed for years The gravel of your voice moves the brine of blood within As I hitch my sails high to join your seas Your taste is of a siren from the west coast Your back heaves handsomely to bring me stay I set sail to find the sources of your salt But it is not your salt I ache for, it is the waves’ (L) Let me hold you (S) Will I be shipwrecked in your waves (L) Let me rock you (S) Within the darkness of your ways (L) I will rise for you (S) Your granite chest between my hands (B) After years beneath the sand we are driftwood on the ocean of tonight (L) You’re too slow to accept that these seasons dictate a different taste in the breeze Your arms cannot hold the wind that you blow So take cover in the ones you can seize (S) You may hold my body in your arms forever Your wind may hold my keel down to your ground But you know I am at war in the vessel you behold For Minerva is the breastbone of the hull (S) I want your breathe, I want your salted breathe in my hair (L) Let me lift you in my arms (S) I want to reach for your shoulders and anchor them (L) Let me rock you in my waves (S) I want to feel the whitewater crash on your land (L) and I will rise for you (S) Your granite chest beneath my hand (B) After years beneath the sand we are driftwood on the ocean of tonight

Trace me out a foreign notion Cast adrift on an endless ocean And I won't ask why I won't tell you right now These things they will come When you're good and ready to know them Take me out and throw me over Cast me into an endless ocean Take me away from this Fake as it always is The faster we fall The longer we crawl To fade out...

Terrarium 03:06
Plugging in to the terrarium Tangles of copper going everywhere Left to swim bricks tied to our shins A billion opinions radiate the air Words pour like steam from a kettle Invading conversations, seeding the clouds Flock of pigeons fighting over crumbs We say the sorts of things we wouldn’t out loud All the mind can conceive or dare to provoke For all of those who believe sunsets look better through smoke Climbing in to the terrarium A feast of fetishes to peruse What made you come is now leaving you numb Your taste in lust just becomes more shrewd Lack of flesh behind those bandages A bloody mess hidden by a gauze A staunch quest for the vain and grotesque It’s all yours if you can afford All the mind can conceive or dare to provoke For all of those who believe sunsets look better through smoke For everyone who’s quick to disempower and shun Remember history is written by who won
